With less than 120 days until 2010 World Cup, Imperial Armour will be playing a major role with supplying security officers with Bullet Proof / Anti Stab vests in order to assist with crowd control.
South Africa is required to conform with the same European standards for riot control, whereas all vests must be anti stab as well as handgun protected. Imperial Armour is the leading supplier of anti-stab vestshaving achieved in passing NIJ KR1/KR2 testing in America. Our vests stop any knife attack or spike attack up to the force of 44 joules. Our vests are ideal for crowd control where close contact threats may occur.

As witnessed by everyone at the shoot, all the bullets were stopped and in one shoot, the bullet impacted only through 7 layers of the soft armour. This would mean the trauma would in fact be practically non existant.
We were then asked by the owner of the shooting range, Stuart Aflek, to shoot with a .308. Stuart loaded his rifle and fired at the bullet proof vest which also housed a Level III plate. At this moment, you could have heard a pin drop – total silence – then “hooray”, the bullet was stopped!
The .308 is a particularly lethal bullet with a high muzzle velocity, and we would normally advise the inclusion of a higher, Level IV, armour piercing plate, which is thicker and heavier. Our NIJ Level III plate, in conjunction with the soft armour, prevented penetration, and proved efficiency and protection.
